About Circus Artists Residency Mexico

If you are a professional and wish to come for the Circus Artists Residency Mexico to develop your own work, this may be the perfect place for you.

This program is for professional or pre-professional artists who wish to further develop their craft in a supportive and immersive environment. Artists must be self motivated and directed, and must already have a disciplined training practice.

This program gives the artist a chance to experience their creativity and focus on their training in a supportive and inclusive environment. Here the energy can be dedicated to artistic development, self care, community, great food and the ocean.

Each artist receives time in the circus gym and dance studio (when classes are not in session), peer support, and the opportunity to show their work in a public setting. Artists must work around the class schedule to do their own training.

This program does not include aerial classes. Professional residents may take 2 non-aerial classes per week including dance, pilates, handstands, acrobatics, flexibility, and yoga. Professionals are also invited to join jam sessions, creative showings and group activities. Professional residents are encouraged to motivate and support each other in their training and creative projects. Residents can request private classes at an additional cost.

As part of community connection with the other residents, professional residents are encouraged to teach one weekly supplementary class or one monthly workshop.  Some examples may include Pilates, yoga, gyrokinesis, flexibility, dance, choreography, performance, make-up, social media strategies, etc.
Alternatively a resident can choose to volunteer with the local children’s program.

Participants will be invited to perform in our live public shows.

All residents will be required to do up to 1 hour per week of community service including meal clean up and keeping the living, training, and eating spaces clean, helping with the local kids program, and/or planting trees.
